This fine Midwest quarterback-athlete has Illinois listed among his early favorites. Have the Illni offered a scholarship?

Comments - Tardy is the straw that stirs the drink for Kevin Wright's Warren Central football team.

Wright will have five D-1 prospects in 2003, Tardy won't be the most sought after of those five but he is the guy that makes everything happen on the football field.

"Desmond is the best overall athlete we have," said head coach Kevin Wright. "He (Tardy) has a super vertical and he's fast. I think most schools are recruiting Desmond as an athlete."

Watching Tardy on film, it's easy to see that this young man has the talent and ability to be a potential difference maker at the collegiate level.

Does Tardy have any offers yet?

"I've been getting a lot of calls but no offers yet." Tardy said. "I'm completely open right now. Coach (Wright) told me that Ball State was getting ready to offer me a scholarship.

"My favorites are Northwestern, Purdue, UCLA, Illinois and Kentucky. Those schools are recruiting me the hardest right now. "I wouldn't mind hearing from Virginia Tech, Ohio State, North Carolina, Florida and Tennessee.

"I'll probably go to a few one day camps this summer but I haven't decided on anything as of yet."

Desmond Tardy had 1,012 yards rushing and 18 touchdowns as a junior. He also passed for 11 touchdowns.

A three-sport athlete, Desmond also letters in basketball and track.
