Miami Defensive Tackle Commits To Illini

The Fighting Illini football team is looking to add depth to the defensive line. Today they received the commitment from Miami Norland defensive tackle Teko Powell.

Miami Norland defensive tackle Teko Powell committed to Illinois today. The 6'-2", 290 pounder helped lead his high school team to the Florida state championship.

Powell visited Illinois in November with two teammates. He was recruited originally by former Illini assistant coach Joe Gilbert. Current defensive line coach Keith Gilmore took over the recruitment after Tim Beckman was hired to be head coach for the Illini.

He helps add depth to the depleted defensive tackle spots, joining previous commitment Vontrell Williams as newcomers on the line.

We hope to have an interview with him posted later in the day.
