Commit Capsule: Kendrick Foster

IlliniPlaybook continues the in-depth look at the commitments in Illinois' 2013 class.

Kendrick Foster - Richwoods High - Peoria, Ill.

Date Committed: 4/12/2012

Position: Running Back

Foster plays in a pro-style offense in high school at Peoria Richwoods, so he gets his fair share of carries. It's no surprise that he was very productive, especially playing in one of the larger classifications in Illinois high school football.

Foster racked up an impressive 30 Touchdowns on 2,362 yards, averaging 7.5 yards per carry. With other top offensive threat from last year Clayton Glasper graduating and heading to Northern Illinois, all eyes will be on Foster this year to carry an even greater load.

What He Brings:

Despite being a bigger-bodied running back, Foster still has great speed for his size. He recorded times in the 4.4 range at the Semper Fidelis underclassmen combine in Arizona over the winter, opening a lot of eyes and proving that he has the physical tools to be a division one running back.

What Can Improve:

Though Foster has very strong straight-line speed, he still needs to develop his lateral quickness as he prepares for college. His vision gives him the ability to find his gaps, but he will need to be able to react quickly and hit the gaps with both speed and power.

What Makes Him Unique:

When Foster gets to Illinois, it won't be his first time playing a game at Memorial Stadium. Foster led his team to a state runner-up finish in the 2011 IHSA State Football Tournament. Foster rushed 18 times for 65 yards and a touchdown in that game.
