Frazier Looking North

Ricky Frazier would like to check out the Illinois campus sometime this fall.

But that's easier said than done. That's because Frazier lives near LaGrange, Ga., roughly 650 miles from Champaign.

"They're recruiting me a lot," Frazier said. "I really love them a lot and would like to visit. I just haven't been able to yet. You know how that goes."

The 5-11, 180-pound 2013 cornerback from Troup County High claims offers from the Illini, Cincinnati, Indiana and South Florida. He's travelled North before, having visited Indiana and Cincinatti.

He's heading to Georgia this weekend, but has Illinois high up on his wish list of places to check out.

"They stand out to me because I've seen how their defense plays," he said. "They play with so much passion. I want to be a part of that."

Frazier says he's in contact most with head coach Tim Beckman and has been told he can play multiple positions should he choose the Illini.

"They've told me they see me as an all around athlete, but mainly on defense," Frazier said.

Location, at this point in time, doesn't matter to Frazier.

"I really think I could (choose a school not in the South) because I would like to play away from home," he said. "I wouldn't mind."
