Dudek Gives Illinois Junior Day High Marks

Neuqua Valley WR Mike Dudek enjoyed his visit to Illinois, and liked what he saw and heard when he was there.

Neuqua Valley junior receiver Mike Dudek was one of the more productive players in the State of Illinois in the 2012 season. Only a junior, Dudek uses great speed and cutting ability to get open and stretch the field.

He visited Illinois in the fall for a game, but he decided to make the trip again Saturday to learn more about the program.

"I had a good visit at the U of I Junior Day today," he said. "We were there almost 5 hours. Spent some good time talking with the coaches, especially the WR coach (Billy Gonzales)."

Dudek projects as a slot receiver on the next level, and with the type of players Illinois has already been taking, he could be in line for an offer down the road. But for now he's patiently waiting.

"The visit was very encouraging," Dudek said. "They want to stay in close contact and told me to just keep doing what I was doing."

His time spent with Coach Gonzales was the highlight of the visit for him.

"I liked what Coach G had to say about what they look for in receivers. It was a great atmosphere," he said.

Dudek noted characteristics about Illinois that would make it a good fit for him.

"They like character, speed, and fundamentally solid guys. They want guys at all sizes that can get the ball and make plays. It would be a great offense to play in."
