JUCO WR Jumps on Illini Offer

Illinois picked up the verbal commitment of yet another wide receiver Tuesday.

Clearly, wide receiver is a position of priority for Illinois in the 2014 recruiting class.

The Illini staff received the verbal commitment of junior college prospect Tyrin Stone-Davis Tuesday night, the third player slotted to play wideout in the class.

A 6-foot-3, 195-pound native of Philadelphia currently playing for Pierce Community College (Los Angeles), Stone-Davis chose the Illini over offers from Texas Tech, San Diego State and others. His original plans included a scheduled visit to Champaign this fall when Illinois played Cincinnati.

That trip may still happen, but he'll be doing so as a member of the current class.

The Illini have had recent success recruiting the junior college ranks, most recently landing five such players in the 2013 class, including receiver Martize Barr.

Mike Dudek and Malik Turner are the other two wideouts currently committed to Illinois in the class.
