Two Week Recruiting Rush

The Illinois staff will spend the next two weeks recruiting, putting the finishing touches on 2014 and working ahead on the 2015 class.

With the season concluded and assurance from the boss man that Tim Beckman will return for a third season, the Illinois staff is in full-on recruiting mode for the next two weeks.

The December contact period allows the staff to start putting the finishing touches on the 2014 haul and work in advance for the next cycle.

The plan is for Beckman to visit potential early enrollees first (the Illini can add as many as nine in January) and to fill the last few spots remaining for 2014.

To say that Beckman's travel schedule is hectic would be a gross understatement.

"Nuts. I'll be all over this country," he said.

The main priority is 2014, but the staff has been able to visit underclassmen prospects since the '14 cycle will be smaller than most. The Illini currently have 14 committed and it's not likely the group reaches more than 20.

"With the limited numbers you can go ahead and start working on 2015," Beckman said. "Everything has become so much faster, but we want to make sure we secure this class with the needed positions that we have to have for this year."

This weekend will bring the first wave of official visitors to campus. The list is comprised mostly of current commitments, but there are a few recruits still open making the trip as well. So far, the confirmed list includes:

Committed:
Nick Allegretti
Chayce Crouch
Austin Roberts
Tito Odenigbo
Julian Hylton
Mike Dudek
Peter Cvijanovic
Jordan Frazier
Malik Turner - (could possibly visit next week)
Henry McGrew

Prospects:
LB/DE Daniel Appouh - Seneca Valley High School
WR Steve Ishmael - North Miami Beach
WR Sanford Seay - Itawamba JC
