In-State OL Takes Official

Illinois commit Nick Allegretti joins several other commits in Champaign. The Army All-American still has one more game to play prior to getting to Champaign, but he's excited for what's ahead at Illinois.

Nick Allegretti was one of the first members of the 2014 Illinois football recruiting class. He and Tito Odenigbo both committed on the same night to start off the class.

Now, with an early enrollment just around the corner, Allegretti came down to Champaign again to hang with his future teammates one more time.

"I was only down there for Saturday and Sunday," he said. "It was a really fun time, though. I can't wait to get down there with those guys."

Usually, official and unofficial visits are pretty structured events for a recruit, but as a commit, Allegretti felt like everything was more laid back and that he could enjoy himself more.

"It was much more comfortable. I got to meet a ton of the guys and my host (Michael Heitz) was a great guy," he said.

It wasn't a long stay in Champaign, but following the visit, Allegretti is ready to get to town and get to work.

"It just got me even more excited to get down there," he said. "I have been down there so many times that I really know all I need to know about the school already."
