Another Day, Another JUCO

Illinois landed another junior college prospect on Wednesday.

With immediate help on the defensive side of the ball in mind, Illinois has hit the junior college ranks to bolster the 2014 recruiting class.

Linebacker Carroll Phillips committed to the Illini staff on Wednesday, the second JUCO verbal in as many days.

At 6-foot-4, 245 pounds, Phillips spent the past two years at Copiah-Lincoln CC, located about 50 miles south of Jackson, Miss.

A high school senior in 2011, Phillips originally signed with Cincinnati after a standout career at Miami (Florida) Central High.

The Illini landed defensive lineman Siosifa Fotu on Tuesday. Illinois has 17 commitments in the 2014 haul, including four junior college prospects.
