More Help From the JUCO Ranks

The Illini landed another junior college defensive standout on Thursday.

Hitting the junior college ranks hard continues to pay off for the Illinois coaching staff.

Jihad Ward verbally committed to the Illini on Thursday. The 6-foot-7, 285-pound defensive lineman from the Globe Institute was the third pledge of the week, joining fellow JUCO prospects in Carroll Phillips and Siosifa Fotu in the 2014 class.

Ward held offers from Texas Tech, Washington, West Virginia and others.

Illinois currently has 18 members comprising the 2014 class, including nine players who plan to enroll in January.
