Ross Gives the Latest

Lyons Township running back Leonard Ross picked up an early offer from Illinois last year. He's back out on the recruiting trail this spring and has already started taking visits.

Leonard Ross of Lyons Township isn't the most electrifying running back out there, but he does a little bit of everything you want a running back to do.

After Illinois extended an early offer to Ross, things went quiet for him on the recruiting front, but he's back at it now and is already hitting the road this spring.

"I was just in Indiana a couple days ago," he said. "I just took an unofficial visit to Purdue."

Despite the early offer from Illinois, other schools have held off so far on offering Ross. But Ross feels like a few could come in the near future.

"I just have Illinois right now," he said. "I haven't gotten any other offers yet. But I think Purdue is a school that could offer soon."

Ross has been busy this offseason preparing for his senior year. Many of his teammates will look to him to be a leader, and he knows that he needs to be ready to carry the load.

"I'm just lifting with the team and trying to pick up some offers, too," Ross said.

Aside from his recent visit to Purdue, Ross took a trip to another Hoosier-state school in Indiana.

"I went to Indiana about three weeks ago," he said. "I haven't really planned any more visits yet."

He said of the Indiana visit, "It went well. I got to know a lot about the school and had some good face to face talks with the coaches."
