Paul Arrested for Underage Drinking

Darius Paul became the first arrested player of the John Groce Era early Tuesday morning.

CHAMPAIGN — Illinois forward Darius Paul was arrested early Tuesday morning for underage drinking and resisting a police officer.

The News Gazette first reported the story about Paul, who sat out last season after transferring from Western Michigan.

According to the News Gazette's report, Paul, the 20-year younger brother of former Illinois star Brandon Paul, was arrested around 3:20 a.m. by university police after they say he fled from them.

Paul was apprehended near his apartment and told police he'd been drinking. He was taken to jail in Urbana, where he later posted bond and was released.
