Illinois Coach John Groce delivered a statement about Darius Paul on Tuesday.

Illinois coach John Groce made a statement Tuesday following the arrest of forward Darius Paul.

"We are aware of the situation that occurred with Darius and are in the process of gathering more information," Groce said. "We need to let the legal process run its course, and then will determine appropriate disciplinary action."

Paul was arrested early Tuesday morning for underage drinking and resisting a police officer.

The News Gazette first reported the story about Paul, who sat out last season after transferring from Western Michigan.

According to the News Gazette's report, Paul, the 20-year younger brother of former Illinois star Brandon Paul, was arrested around 3:20 a.m. by university police after they say he fled from them.

Paul was apprehended near his apartment and told police he'd been drinking. He was taken to jail in Urbana, where he later posted bond and was released.
