The 6-foot, 195-pound running back from Dekalb, Ill., committed early in the process, March 7, has four-stars next to his name and is a Top 10 player in the state.
The perception, that a high-ranking in-state player wants to stay home and help turn Illinois around, is important. That he's so outspoken about recruiting others to join him takes it to the next level.
Brown was instrumental in recruiting fellow four-star Gabe Megginson, one of the ten best offensive linemen in the nation. Every pledge that's followed the lead in committing to Illinois has cited Brown as a major reason why.
All of that was on-going before Tuesday's news that Brown would enroll next January. Beth Long of Scout.com reported that Brown plans to skip his final semester of high school to get an early start at Illinois.
There's really not much else to say — could Dre Brown the recruit be any better? Not likely.
