Illini Offer 2016 Simeon SG

Following a visit to Champaign on Saturday, Illinois extended an offer to 2016 SG Zack Norvell

The University of Illinois has become a welcome landing spot for some of the best talent from Chicago's Simeon high school in recent years.

With Simeon alumni Jaylon Tate and Kendrick Nunn currently on the roster and D.J. Williams set to join the team this summer, the Illini have established a strong relationship with the Chicago powerhouse program.

On Saturday, Illinois took another measure to keep that pipeline flowing when they offered talented 2016 shooting guard Zack Norvell after the win against Penn State at the State Farm Center.

"Man, I'm just happy and thankful," Norvell told IlliniPlaybook upon receiving the offer.

The familiar faces such as Tate and Nunn at Illinois made Norvell feel much more welcome and helped him feel more at home when he comes to campus.

"It's a great thing to see them and catch up with them," he said. "You know you can get advice about things on and off the court."

Norvell is making a case to be considered among the top players in the 2016 class in Illinois, challenging the likes of Barret Benson, Nick Rakocevic, and Rapolas Ivanauskas.
