"It was an amazing day," Watts said. "One of those days you don't want to end."
The offer was a special one for the Chicago-based junior.
"I felt very excited," said Watts. "This was a huge offer for me. I was glad Illinois was the first team in the Big Ten to offer."
Having his teammates on hand for the visit made it that much better.
"We are all very close," he said. " We attend school together, work out together, and now hold offers from a Big Ten school in our state."
The three teammates, now all with offers in hand, have talked about the possibility of all going to the same school, but after coming up just short of a state title last year, their priority lies in getting back to Champaign for a different reason.
"Right now our focus is winning a state championship," he said, "but it does cross our mind. In the end, we will all have to make a smart choice for us as individuals."
Watts also holds numerous offers from schools in the MAC, but is also hearing from a few other "BCS" schools.
"Pitt, IU and Vanderbilt have been in touch recently, but you never know for sure what schools are thinking (as far as an offer)," he said.
