The first Illinois football satellite camp is in the books, taking place Thursday afternoon at O'Fallon Township High.
Check out quick hitters of some of the top prospects from the camp:
Lafayette (Mo.) 2016 OL Chase Behrndt
This is the second camp that Scout has seen Behrndt in action in two weeks -- and he lived up to the hype again. He was again solid and showed his athleticism throughout the camp. Everything that we said about Behrndt when he camped at Wisconsin held true again less than a week later. Was the one called out for the best of rep at the end of the camp for the offensive line -- and handily won it.
McCluer North (Mo.) 2016 WR Harry Ballard
The most physcially impressive prospect at the camp was Ballard. He measured in at 6-2, 185-pounds which was actually a little surprising because he seemed bigger when watching him play. He recorded a sub-4.50 forty-yard dash and had that explosiveness that you look for. Ballard got better as the camp went on, and added an offer from the Illini after the camp.
Two young prospects added offers from Illinois after good camp showings including Glenwood (Ill.) 2019 OL/DL William Putnam and Parkway North (Mo.) 2018 DL Michael Thompson. Both had the size, Putnam standing 6-4, 235-pounds and Thompson 6-4, 275-pounds. Plus, they held their own and more when taking one-on-one reps against older athletes. In fact, Thompson was one of the defensive lineman called out for best on best reps. Another prospect that had a good camp was Timberland (Mo.) 2018 DL Brad Papez who as an athlete to watch.
O'Fallon junior running back Kentrail Moran and Illini commit, will enroll early and begin competing for the Illini. He was in attendance at camp Thursday evening, and seems to be good friends with WR Harry Ballard.
