Only a sophomore, but already measuring in at 6-4, 266-pounds, Parkway North (Mo.) 2018 defensive lineman Michael Thompson is making a splash on the camping circuit. The first camp he took part in was Illinois satellite camp at O'Fallon.
"I think I did well," Thompson said. "I think I improved on getting off the ball quicker and lower. I want to get better overall this offseason, and work hard and get stronger."
As a freshman, Thompson started on the defensive line and received honorable mention all-conference.
"I want to start both ways next year, and help the team get some wins. I think I project on offense right now because I haven't played defense yet. I like blocking and getting pancakes most of the time. I like pass blocking the most though," Thompson said.
Thompson added his first offer after camping with the Illini.
"It feels good. It's exciting. I don't know, it was kind of hard to believe at first that they were going to offer. It felt good knowing that my first offer was coming from the Big Ten. Because it is one of the best conferences and they have the champions in their league," Thompson said.
