2017 PG Gets First from Illini

IlliniPlaybook scouted Champlin Park (MN) 2017 point guard McKinley Wright during the first live period of the summer at the NY2LA Sports Next Level Invitational. Wright recently received his first scholarship offer from Illinois. Here we break down his game and have an extensive video interview with the rising junior guard.

The Scouting Report:

McKinley Wright is an athletic 6’0” point guard that prefers to set up his teammates first and foremost. He is quick in tight spaces and handles it well through traffic. The lead guard likes the drive and kick, where he can draw defenders' attention and find his perimeter guys for shots.

Overall, he has a quality passing feel. Wright gets in lane with ease, and in the open floor he has speed end to end and changes directions quickly. He does a nice job of using hesitation and shot fakes to keep the defense off balance, but can also hit a pull up jumper. He rebounded well for his size when we saw him and is an active defender in anticipating passing lanes which many times results in steals.
