Prep Preview: Juwuane Parchman

In this series where we look ahead to the high school season, we start with the Illinois commit who got the class started.

High school football season is just around the corner, and that means several Illinois prospects and targets will be in action in no time at all. In this Prep Preview series, we take a look at each prospect who we plan to see this year and discuss what we will be looking for from that player this year.

First up in the series is commit number one in the 2016 class Juwuane Parchman. Parchman, who committed to Illinois on October 24th of 2014, is a safety from Rockford (IL) Auburn High School. Let’s take a closer look at the inaugural member of the 2016 class.

The Bio:

Height & Weight:6’-2”, 190 pounds
Positions: WR, S

Parchman is a two-sport athlete (football & track) who also plays on both sides of the ball for the Knights at Rockford Auburn. Last year, he recorded 23 carries for 196 yards on the ground and added 29 receptions for 404 yards and 3 touchdowns in a run-heavy offense.

Defensively, Parchman is still raw, but his range and natural athletic ability give him the tools to be a bright prospect at safety.

But as for his film at safety.. well.. there isn’t much of it. His highlights are almost entirely of him on offense. Which is precisely why we will be seeing him in action this fall.

Parchman projects as a safety at the next level. If called upon, he could play receiver, however the depth needs at safety are much greater for Illinois right now.

Season Outlook:

Week 1 Opponent: Rockford East HS
Toughest Matchup: Rockton (Hononegah)
When we’ll see him: Week 7 vs. Machesney Park (Harlem HS)
Notable Teammates: 2016 LB Alfonzo Lambert, 2017 OL Vederian Lowe
