The Illinois basketball program is set to kick off their official visit slate with a big one next weekend, as 2016 wing Xavier Sneed told IlliniInquirer.com he will head to Champaign on August 28th.
Sneed is one of the top priorities for the Illini staff, and they made it an emphasis to get him on campus before anyone else could. The 6-foot-5 small forward was a standout with the St. Louis Eagles this summer on the EYBL circuit. Sneed brings big-time athleticism to the floor, along with a high motor, scoring ability off the bounce and a knack for locking down opponents.
Sneed cut his list to five schools earlier this month: Illinois, Creighton, Kansas State, Witchita State and Xavier. He said for now, his visit to Illinois is the only one set in stone.
"All I know is that I will be there next weekend," Sneed said.
The Illini hope that is the only visit he will need.
