Illinois was in pole position when three-star 2016 forward Xavier Sneed began his visit slate in Champaign on Aug. 28.
Sneed has since taken an official visit to Kansas State, and he plans to visit Xavier in the near future as well. Both of those programs were in to visit Sneed on Wednesday during the first day of the recruiting period. The Illini will visit the athletic wing on Thursday.
John Groce and his staff did a great job of making their sell during Sneed's official in Champaign.
"They talked a lot about how they are in need of what I could bring to their team with athleticism, defense and shooting ability," Sneed said. "I am very impressed in what the school has to offer me."
Many believe that the Illini still have the best odds with Sneed, but it is not a sure thing just yet. Sneed told IlliniInquirer.com that he will not visit Xavier this weekend, but it should happen soon. There is a good chance he'll be ready to decide soon after that.
