Illinois wide receiver Geronimo Allison has been added to the watch list for the Biletnikoff Award, given to the nation's most outstanding receiver.
Through four games, Allison ranks third in the Big Ten and 22nd nationally in total receiving yards (362 yards on 24 catches). He is coming off a career-best 10-catch game against Middle Tennessee State, his second 100-yard receiving game this season (128 yards).
The senior caught 41 passes for 598 yards and five touchdowns as a junior. The 6-foot-4 wideout transferred to Illinois from Iowa Western Community College.
No Illini has ever won the Biletnikoff Award, which was first given out in 1994. Alabama's Amari Cooper won the award last season. Four Big Ten players have won the award: Penn State's Bobby Engram (1994), Ohio State's Terry Glenn (1995), Michigan State's Charles Rogers (2002) and Michigan's Braylon Edwards (2004).
The last and only Illini receiver to earn First-Team All-America honors was David Williams in 1984 and 1985. The last Illini receiver to earn All-Big Ten First Team honors was A.J. Jenkins in 2011.
