CHAMPAIGN - The Illini played without its two top tight ends last week against Middle Tennessee State, but will get one back this week against Nebraska
While H-back Tim Clary is still out indefinitely with an arm injury, starting tight end Tyler White will return to the field after missing last week with a concussion.
"We got one back," Cubit said Wednesday after practice. "We got Tyler back there."
The Illini hope White -- a 6-foot-5, 255-pound junior -- gives the Illini a boost in the redzone, where the Illini scored just three times in six tries against Middle Tennessee. Two of White's five catches (46 yards) through three games were touchdowns, and he is the best run blocker of the available tight ends.
Clary, who had provided a potent lead blocker and receiving threat in the flat during the first two games, will miss several more weeks -- if not the entire season.
"What they're going to do is re-X-ray it in a few weeks, and then they'll figure out a plan from there," Cubit said. "They'll have to re-X-ray it, and then they'll see if they can cast it or not (so he can play)."
