Illini starters Michael Finke, Kendrick Nunn suffer contusions in loss to Wisconsin

Injury-prone Illini suffer more injuries to key players.

Illinois freshman forward Michael Finke suffered a knee contusion during the Illini's 63-55 loss to Wisconsin on Saturday. He will undergo an MRI on Monday, UI head coach John Groce said.

Finke fell to the ground after getting hit knee-to-knee with 7:18 left in the game. He clutched his left knee for a few minutes before hobbling off the court with the help of the team athletic trainer. Groce said the injury did not sound serious but that the MRI will check for any serious damage.

Illini junior guard Kendrick Nunn also left the game with a contusion to his hip. He left the game early in the second half but returned to finish the game. He had 15 points.

Nunn is the Illini's second-leading scorer (17.8 points). Finke is the Illini's fourth leading scorer (9.0 points).
