Why Illinois?

"I chose Illinois because of the great academics, amazing coaching staff, and the opportunity to compete against the best competition college football has to offer.  I believe Illinois is a great fit for me because the program is filled with tough people who understand what it takes to be successful on and off the field.  I'm looking forward to representing all the great Illini from the past and also hearing the roars of the Illini faithful when we bring home a Big Ten championship."

Fish is relatively new to football, but between his frame and his athleticism, the former basketball player has very high upside.  One of his greatest assets is his quickness at the snap.  He is able to engage defenders quickly and uses solid leg drive to maintain his position and sustain his blocks.

Being somewhat new to the game, his form and technique will still need some refining, but athletically he has a lot of the tools that will help him be successful.  At 6'-6" tall and just over 300 pounds, Fish already has Big Ten size, and could see the field sooner rather than later.  If his All-American honors are just the early fruits of his potential, he could turn out to be one of the steals of this class.
