Prior to Green being offered by Illinois, we were told by someone on East St. Louis' coaching staff that he believed Illinois was a great fit for Green. Between the academics and the opportunity for him within the football program, Green is the type of solid defensive back who goes on to have a productive career on and off the field.
Green is a polite guy off the field, but once he straps on the pads, he becomes a tenacious competitor who has no reservations about laying a big hit on an opposing player. He is athletic and explodes toward the ball once he reacts. He is a safety who plays with the mindset and physicality of a linebacker.
With his solid speed at the safety position, Green can cover a lot of ground, but isn't afraid to mix it up in the box on defense. For that reason, he projects well as a free safety who can both step up in the box as well as cover tight ends and running backs in the passing game.
