Signing Day Spotlight: Dele' Harding

The letter is in for Elkton (MD) Eastern Christian Academy LB Dele' Harding. Here's a look at the new Illini signee.

Commitment Date: 2/01/2016

Twitter Handle: @dele_harding

Why Illinois?

According to Harding's ECA coach Dwayne Thomas, he chose Illinois because of  "the opportunity to play, the coaches, motivation and approaches. He thought they were very similar. He was just blown away by the academics."

Harding already has Big Ten size, however he is a little shorter compared to some of the Big Ten's elite linebackers.  Shortly after his commitment, we compared him to former Illinois linebacker Jonathan Brown, a bull of a linebacker who wasn't the biggest guy on the field, but had instinct and played a VERY physical brand of football.

Harding attacks the line of scrimmage and is a pretty sure tackler.  At 6'1"-230 pounds, Harding brings a lot of force in his tackles and is consistent in bringing down the ball carrier.  He will need to work a bit more on his gap discipline, but should be able to refine that area of his game sooner rather than later.
