Signing Day Spotlight: Zarrian Holcombe

The letter is in for Houston (TX) Summer Creek TE Zarrian Holcombe. Here's a look at the new Illinois signee.

Commitment Date: 1/16/2016

Twitter Handle: @ZarrianJk

Why Illinois?

Holcombe, a one-time Texas A&M commit said he wanted to be involved in an offense that would target the tight end.  Holcombe took an official visit to Illinois in mid-January and committed at its conclusion, giving Illinois a huge target and receiving threat in the passing game.

Holcombe, a rangy 6'5"+ TE/WR who projects to add 20-30 pounds of muscle is a serious mismatch for most linebackers.  His size makes him tough to contain on seam routes and he has a major advantage in jump-ball situations.

His long stride and rangy arms give him a big catch radius and allow him to catch passes that might otherwise be outside of another receiver's reach.  He is more explosive than most tight ends as a receiver, however he will need to improve substantially as a blocker to see action on more than just passing downs.
