Signing Day Spotlight: Izon Pulley

The letter is in for Olney (MD) Good Counsel DE Izon Pulley. Here's a closer look at the new Illinois signee.

Commitment Date: 2/01/2016

Twitter Handle: @TunnelVision15

Why Illinois?

Pulley originally chose Miami in June of 2015, however parted ways in recent months, and new Illinois defensive assistant Paul Williams, who recruited Pulley while still at Miami, reached out and recruited the Olney (MD) Good Counsel defender.  Illinois doesn't have a lot of depth on the defensive line beyond 2016, so there is plenty of opportunity to come in and potentially make an early impact if he develops.

Evaluation:

Pulley will likely end up as a strongside defensive end.  He lacks burst off of the snap but does show a good variety of swim, rip, and spin moves on film.  Pulley will need to do some work on his pass rush ability once at college, but shows good pursuit in the backfield on tape.

Pulley is a solid tackler and is built solid, which could help him play sooner rather than later, especially given the upcoming lack of depth along the defensive front.  If he can improve his quickness under coach Mike Phair, then he could be a nice late pickup for the Illini.
