Illini guard Malcolm Hill announced on Friday that he will return for his senior season in Champaign, via his Instagram.
"I have had a great experience at the University of Illinois. I will be returning for my senior season," Hill wrote. "I want to come back, get my degree, continue to develop my game and have an opportunity to play in the NCAA tournament. We have unfinished business, I owe it to this wonderful community, my teammates and our great fan base. Thank you for the support and love for me and our program. #WeWillWin Go Illini."
Hill has been contemplating over the last few weeks whether to declare for the NBA Draft without an agent to test the waters and evaluate his stock. But this announcement guarantees his return.
Hill led the Illini with 18.1 points per game, which was third in the Big Ten. He also averaged 6.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.2 steals per game - totaling the most in each category on the team.
As a senior, Hill will be the Big Ten's leading returning scorer. He will also be a candidate for Preseason Big Ten Player of the Year.
