NFL Draft 2016: Where will Illini go?

Illinois' two-year draft drought will end this weekend. But how many Illini will get the call and where will they go?

Strengths: Size, athleticism, versatility (can play end or tackle in most schemes), work ethic

Weaknesses: Raw, needs technique work, will need time to develop, lack of elite production

Illini Inquirer projection: 52nd overall pick (2nd round), Houston Texans

Strengths: Electic burst, speed and agility; makes defenders miss in space; elite receiver out of the backfield; solid pass blocker; strong for size, can return kicks

Weaknesses: Lacks bellcow back size, dances too much behind line of scrimmage instead of hitting the hole for a few tough yards, injury prone at Illinois, struggles to finish games, can be fumble-prone, likely not a gunner on special teams

Illini Inquirer projection: 152nd overall pick (5th round), New Orleans Saints

Strengths: Fiery leader who plays with tenacity; physical run blocker; solid pass protector with good footwork; rarely penalized; could play center making him versatile

Weaknesses: Not exceptional in any area, plays a little high and can struggle to get leverage against better Big Ten/future NFL defensive linemen, suffered a torn ACL as a junior and seemed to lose some lateral ability

Illini Inquirer projection: 226th overall pick (7th round), Jacksonville Jaguars

Strengths: Big hitter, sure tackler, tough player who fits as eighth man in box; former walk-on is a self-made man; ripped physique; plus athleticism; could be a special teams stud for the next five-plus seasons

Weaknesses: Struggled in pass coverage, especially against play-action pass; despite his speed, he's a bit stiff in hips; may need the right defensive scheme to succeed as a safety

Illini Inquirer projection: 206th overall pick (7th round), Chicago Bears

Strengths: Long, catches at the high point, athletic in traffic, controls his feet on the sideline, willing to take the big hit, plus blocker, hard worker

Weaknesses: Struggles to separate due to lack of burst and straight-line speed; drops too many easy passes; lacks quickness to separate on shorter routes

Illini Inquirer projection: Undrafted free agent

Strengths: NFL speed and elusviness in the open field; extremely versatile because he can return kicks and punts, play nickel corner; physical tackler for his size

Weaknesses: Very short (5-foot-8) with short arms; probably can't play on the boundary in the NFL, meaning he must produce in subpackages and special teams; did not produce as much as a returner as a senior

Illini Inquirer projection: Undrafted free agent
