Illini golf advances to final round of stroke play

Illini tied for ninth entering final round of stroke play; top-8 advance to match play

Illinois men's golf are one of 15 teams to advance to the final round of stroke play at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore.

The Illini enter the final round tied for ninth at 19-over. The scores carry over into the next round and the top-eight following Monday's action will advance to championship round match play.

The Illini shot a 10-over 290 on Friday, an even 280 on Saturday and a nine-over 289 on Sunday. Senior Charlie Danielson is currently the high score for the Illini, tied for 13th at 1-over. Senior Thomas Detry and sophomore Dylan Meyer are tied for 50th at 6-over. The leader, Oregon's Aaron Wise, is the individual leader at 6-under.

Illinois has advanced t match play in four of the past five seasons, finishing tied for 5th in 2011, runner up in 2013, tied for fifth in 2014 and tied for third in 2015.
