Illinois' top 2018 prospect is transferring out of the state.
Houston Griffith announced Monday that he is transferring from Chicago (Ill.) Mt. Carmel to IMG Academy in Brandenton, Fla.
IMG is a renowned boarding school and sports training institute. The football program is directed by former NFL quarterback Steve Walsh.
Griffith, the son of former Illini great Howard Griffith, has more than 20 power-five offers including Illinois, Florida State, Ohio State, Georgia, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska and Florida. He is the No. 83 overall prospect in the 2018 Scout 100 and the No. 10 cornerback.
"I feel like this is the best decision for me as a young man and as a player," Griffith wrote in a tweet. "I will have the opportunity to play and practice against some of the best competition in the country on a daily basis. The decision will also allow me to graduate early and early enroll to my university of choice."
