One of the state's top uncommitted players recently cut his list to 6 schools, and his list reaches from coast-to-coast.
2017 Huntley (IL) defensive end Olalere Oladipo recently announced on twitter that he had cut his list to a final group of six schools, which included Illinois, Indiana, Penn State, Duke, Cal, and Michigan State.
Oladipo explained the qualifications that led him to trim his list to those six schools and how he arrived at that grouping.
"The purpose was to help me focus more on those schools," he said. "The amount they stayed in contact, the history of the program, the coaching staff, and the input I got from my parents, mentor, and coaches, were all major factors."
Cutting some of the other schools that didn't end up on his list was tough, but Oladipo understood that it would be a difficult part of the process.
"The relationships I built up with coaches from the other staffs made it tough," he said.
Oladipo says he hopes to decide before his senior season starts, but won't force a decision if he isn't ready.
"I would like to commit in August," he said "but if it takes longer then it's more time for me to make a better choice."
As of right now, Oladipo has completed all of his planned visits. Recent trips to Duke and Penn State capped his summer travel plans. However, he may entertain the idea of taking some official visits if the process takes longer than he originally anticipated.
"(Those two visits) should be it," Oladipo said. "As far as official visits, I still don't know."
