Three-star big man Victor Uyaelunmo announced on Monday that he will name a top seven this week, and he told IlliniInquirer.com that will come on Saturday.
The Illini extended an offer to Uyaelunmo in May, and he has been a priority target in the frontcourt. Assistant coach Dustin Ford is the lead guy in this recruitment, and he watched the 6-foot-10 target on numerous occasions during the live periods this spring and summer.
"I like them and I like the coaching staff," Uyaelunmo said.
Illinois would like to add another big in this class alongside five-star commit Jeremiah Tilmon. Uyaelunmo is familiar with Tilmon, and he said it's certainly possible that they could play together.
"Oh yeah, I know a little bit about him," Uyaelunmo said. "I've played against him and I've met him at camps."
Uyaelunmo is a long, athletic big man with a high motor. He has shown an ability to run the floor, block shots, rebound and finish around the rim.
