Illini Recruit Recap: RB Mike Epstein tops 100 again

Illini commits Kendall Smith, Marc Mondesir, Mike Epstein, Carmoni Green and Tony Adams all made big plays on Friday night

- Illini athlete commit Kendall Smith had about 100 all-purpose yards to help lead Bolingbrook to a 20-14 overtime victory at Bishop McNamara. Smith had two catches for about 30 yards, but his highlight play came on a 30-yard run to the one-yard line that set up Bolingbrook's tying score in the third quarter. He also ran the ball several times out of the wildcat formation.

- Illini linebacker commit Marc Mondesir forced a fumble, scooped and scored as St. Rita crushed Rich Central 56-19.

- Following a lost junior season due to a torn ACL, Illini running back commit Mike Epstein continued his torrid start to his senior campaign with 18 rushes for 100 yards and a touchdown as St. Thomas Aquinas defeated Miramar 42-6. Epstein rushed for 151 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries in Week 1.

- Illini athlete commit Tony Adams caught an eight-yard touchdown pass but SLUH lost to Chaminade 30-28. Adams finished the game with five catches for 70 yards and also intercepted a pass on defense.

- Illini wide receiver commit Carmoni Green had a 55-yard kick return touchdown and a 22-yard punt return to help Miami Central rout Killian 55-0.

- Illini cornerback commit Antwan Collier and Miami Southridge rolled Dr. Knop 39-0.

- Illini receiver commit Ricky Smalling played more the role of decoy in Brother Rice's 61-44 shootout win over Crete-Monee. Smalling had just two catches for 36 yards in the first half that finished with a score of 35-32. Smalling also dealt with cramping issues in the second half.

- Illini offensive line commit Larry Boyd and St. Louis Trinity Catholic defeated Ritter Prep 47-13 to improve to 3-0 for the first time in program history. 2019 quarterback Isaiah Williams, who holds an Illini offer, went 5-for-12 passing for 86 yards.

- Illini offensive line commit Vederian Lowe and Rockford Auburn fell to Rockford Boyland 14-7.

- Illini quarterback commit Cam Thomas and Marian Catholic lost to Yorkville 54-7.

- Illini defensive line commit Olalere Oladipo and Huntley lost to Prairie Ridge 31-20.
