Carmoni Green considered other options. He even took official visits to Washington State, Utah and North Carolina.
But the Miami (Fla.) Central receiver stayed true to his August verbal commitment. Green told Illini Inquirer on Monday that earlier this month he signed a Big Ten tender of financial aid to Illinois.

Green is one of four players to sign with Illinois during the mid-year enrollee signing period, joining Miami Central teammate Owen Carney, Cincinnati Colerain offensive lineman Howard Watkins and Garden City (Kan.) Community College linebacker Delshawn Phillips.
Green committed to Illinois on Aug. 25, the same day as Huntley (Ill.) defensive end Olalere Oladipo. He and Carney, who announced his commitment to Illinois on Sunday, took a three-day unofficial visit to Illinois together in July and returned to Champaign for official visits earlier this month.
"I have built great relationships with (offensive coordinator/quarterbacks) coach (Garrick) McGee and (running backs) coach (Thad) Ward," Green told Scout.com in August. "Coach McGee, he used to be at Louisville and had a couple of players from Miami Central that are in the NFL now. He said he knows what talent looks like and will help me get there."
