Illini add DE Isaiah Gay to 2017 Class

Illinois added one more to an already deep 2017 defensive line class on Friday, signing Isaiah Gay of Northern Nash in Rocky Mount, NC.

A class already including six defensive linemen got even deeper on Friday when Rocky Mount (NC) Northern Nash DE/LB Isaiah Gay signed with the Illini.

Gay had 117 tackles, 25 TFLs, 17 sacks and three forced fumbles as senior to earn Big East Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2016.

Gay plays similarly to recent graduate Caroll Phillips.  He is explosive off the snap and relentless in his pursuit.

Gay joins Owen Carney, Kendrick Green, Deon Pate, Jamal Woods, Bobby Roundtree, and Olalere Oladipo on the defensive line in 2017.
