The Illini are playing host to 6-foot-7 forward Francesco Badocchi for an official visit that began on Monday -- a source told IlliniInquirer.com.
Badocchi is a 2017 target with a lot of intrigue at this stage of the game. Illinois head coach Brad Underwood called Badocchi and his parents two weekends ago and expressed a high level of interest.
A native of Italy, Badocchi has length, athleticism and versatility. He posted 21 points and 13 rebounds in a state title win last month for Bishop Miege High School (Kan.).
There is an increasing amount of interest by bigger programs. It has been reported that Badocchi will visit Virginia later this week.
The Illini still have four scholarship spots to fill on next season's roster, and Badocchi's skill set seems to be a good fit for Underwood's uptempo style.
