Edwardsville guard Mark Smith rises in final Scout 100

Da'Monte Williams, Jeremiah Tilmon lose a star in final Scout rankings

Edwardsville guard Mark Smith's late emergence pushed him into the final Scout 100 rankings for the Class of 2017. The four-star prospect and Illinois Mr. Basketball rose from outside the top-100 to No. 76 overall in the final national rankings.

Smith plans an unofficial visit to Illinois on Thursday. Michigan State coach Tom Izzo visited Smith at his Edwardsville home on Tuesday, and a Duke assistant is expected to visit him on Wednesday. Smith also may take an official visit to Ohio State this weekend. A decision is expected soon.

Illini signee Trent Frazier still has a spot in the Scout 100, coming in at No. 83 overall. The four-star prospect has remained committed to Illinois through the coaching transition to Brad Underwood, who replaced the dismissed John Groce.

Illini signee Da'Monte Williams was down-graded from a four-star prospect to a three-star prospect after inconsistencies on the AAU circuit and a torn ACL that kept him out most of his senior season. He also has re-affirmed his commitment to Illinois.
