The Braggin' Rights Game had lost its luster lately. No more.
The Illinois-Missouri basketball rivalry ratched up a notch on Monday as former Illinois signee and East St. Louis four-star center Jeremiah Tilmon signed with Missouri, the Tigers announced on Monday morning.
It's been a long and wining recruitment for TIlmon, the No. 35 prospect in the Class of 2018. He committed to Illinois last July. But he didn't sign with Illinois until the last day of the early signing period, with Kansas, St. Louis University and others showing him interest.
After Illinois fired coach John Groce and hried Brad Underwood, Tilmon asked for and received his release from Illinois.
Tilmon joins an impressive first recruiting class for Mizzou coach Cuonzo Martin, a fellow East St. Louis native who also received interest from Illinois after it fired Groce. No. 1 overall prospect Michael Porter Jr. signed with Mizzou after his father joined Martin's staff as an assistant.
