The big man question for Illinois' 2017 class may have an answer soon, as former UIC signee Greg Eboigbodin is in Champaign visiting Illinois on Wednesday -- a source told IlliniInquirer.com.
New Illini assistant Chin Coleman recruited Eboigdoin to UIC from University of Detroit High School, and the 6-foot-9 big man signed a letter of intent with the Flames in November. But Eboigbodin requested his release in April, and while there hasn't been much said about his situation until recently, he looks to be a target the Illini have legitimate interest in adding.
Eboigbodin averaged around 14 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks per game as a senior. He is long and mobile. Eboigbodin grew up playing soccer in Nigeria, prior to moving to the United States for basketball in 2013.
The Illini certainly need another body in the post to go along with Michael Finke and Leron Black. It may take some time to tap into Eboigbodin's potential, but this late in the game with spots open, this move could make some sense for Brad Underwood & Co.
