WR Andre Young Commits to Illinois
Story data received from TheInsiders.com
This weekend as he was checking out the University of Illinois campus, Andre Young decided Illinois was the school for him to continue his education as well as his football career. Andre knew Illinois was the place for him, so even before getting on the plane to head home to North Augusta, SC, he committed to Illinois head coach Ron Turner. "I committed Sunday morning," Andre told Miller Safrit of TheInsiders.com.
Andre becomes the 22nd commitment in the Fighting Illini Class of 2004, and the third wide receiver. At 6'5 and 190 pounds, Andre should be able to be a big target receiver for the Fighting Illini quarterbacks throughout his Illini career. TheInsiders.com football experts have Andre rated as a one-star wide receiver.
This past season Andre had 72 receptions totalling 1,311 yards and 12 touchdown receptions. Andre was a standout in three varsity sports for his high school, and some thought that his height would draw him interest from college basketball programs, but he will be playing football exclusively for the Fighting Illini.
