LB Josh Tischer 6-1 215 4.4 Morris, Illinois
Josh Tischer is without question one of the toughest prospects in the Midwest. Tischer is a standout on both sides of the ball as a linebacker and fullback.
Less than a month ago, we reported that Tischer's stock was on the rise. Northwestern was in on Josh early but Stanford, Illinois and several other schools started to come on strong.
Legendary Morris coach, Dan Darlington was quoted as saying that his prized recruit would probably stay close to home and would commit soon.
Several reports had Josh Tischer committing to Illinois yesterday. We caught up with Josh last night and not aware that his commitment had been broken on the internet, this is what he had to say.
"Yea, I committed to Illinois." Tischer said. "I just really didn't want any of the media to know about it until after the season. I don't want to deal with that stuff right now.
Stanford was just too far away and I felt comfortable at Illinois. I like the coaches and its important to me that my parents are able to watch me play.
Josh Tischer is an honors student that carries a 5.1 GPA in the classroom.
This is an outstanding get for Illinois. Tischer reminds me a lot of current Fighting Illini linebacker Joe Bevis. Tischer is extremely fast, strong and he's a striker that loves to hit.
