A prospect to watch in 2004 will be Tim Freitag, a 6-foot-5, 300-pound offensive lineman from Elmhurst (Ill.) York.
Freitag started the first six games of his junior year at left guard but finished the rest of his senior season at left tackle.
Freitag didn't win any personal honors last year but the college recruiters love his size and potential.
"I don't have any offers right now," said Freitag. "I'm just getting a lot of mail. Northern Illinois, Central Michigan, Indiana and Illinois were all in school this week.
"My favorites are Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio State and Purdue. I don't know if I'm going to attend any camps. I don't think I will but things can change."
Freitag projects as a guard at the next level.
Tim Walker, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound linebacker/tight end from Lombard (Ill.) Glenbard East will be a three-year varsity starter in 2004.
Walker was named all-conference as a junior and had eight receiving touchdowns. He'll start and play full-time on both sides of the ball in 2004.
"Illinois has called me but I don't have any offers." Walker said.
"My favorites are Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Arizona State and Ball State. I'm going to the Nike Camp next weekend and I'm going to the Illinois camp this summer."
Walker carries a 3.9 GPA in the classroom and is awaiting his ACT test score.
