Marcus Landry is a 6-7 small forward from Vincent High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin who has sky rocketed on the radar screen recently. TheInsiders.com ranks Landry as the 61st best in the class of 2005.
Marcus was very happy to inform me that he just received a 21 on his ACT test so he's ready to go when it's time for college. Landry's list includes Marquette, Wisconsin, Illinois, UConn and Purdue. "I've been contacted the most by Wisconsin and Marquette but all the schools have offered me full-ride scholarships, including Illinois.
Landry has watched the Illini on TV quite a bit and likes the fact that Champaign is close to home and his family can see him play. "Illinois likes to run, which I like," stated Landry.
"Coach Weber is a real down to earth guy. I met him when he came to my school," said Landry. Now that he's qualified, expect more offers to hit the table for this athletic swingman.
Landry said college coaches love the fact that he's 6-7 and can post up anyone and score in the post, but also take it out to the perimeter. He's also quick to say he has some work to do with his left hand. "I want to be a complete player and right now I need to work on going left a little more."
Landry's stock is going to rise as the summer goes on. He plays for the Wisconsin Playground Warriors AAU team.
