Paul Blalock, a 6-foot, 190-pound quarterback from Aurora (Ill.) Waubonsie Valley is a Midwest "Hot 100" and an Illinois "Top 25" prospect.

Blalock ended his recruitment today by giving the University of Illinois his verbal commitment.

"It's all good," said Blalock. "I called coach (Ron) Turner today and committed.

"I could have waited but Illinois offered six quarterbacks and coach Turner told me that they were going to take the first two that committed.

"I picked Illinois because I felt that they were the only school serious about me playing quarterback.

"My plan is to play quarterback for Illinois, if I end up at another position, so be it."

Blalock finished 2003 with 1,350 yards and 21 touchdowns. How good of an athlete is Blalock? His first start on the varsity as a 14-year old sophomore he passed for 190 yards and rushed for 140 scoring five touchdowns.

Super get for Illinois.
