Julian Wright's Stock Shooting up the Charts

Shoe camps and the Nike Peach Jam have just ended, and the summer recruiting season is in full gear. One of the key targets for the Illini is Homewood-Flossmoor's Julian Wright.

Read this latest update from IlliniBoard.com on how his play in the past week has vaulted him even higher among the top players in the Class of 2005.

Helping to lead his AAU team, the Illinois Warriors to the Nike Peach Jam Championship, Julian Wright has started to be mentioned as a possible Number One player in the Class of 2005. In the Nike Peach Jam, Julian put up stats that would make any college basketball coach salivate, including the three coaches still left in the recruiting battle for Julian's services, Dave Leiato (DePaul), Lute Olson (Arizona), and Bruce Weber (Illinois). The stat lines Julian put up in the eight game tournament are just box score fillers as shown below.

Julian had already established himself as Illinois' number one target at the wing forward position, but now he is making a huge claim for the number one position in TheInsiders.com Top 100 per National Recruiting Analyst Dave Telep:
Julian Wright, the 6-foot-8 Chicago Julian standout, begins the second half of July as the player everyone is buzzing about. His MVP effort at the Peach Jam and terrific showing at Nike Camp make him the biggest riser in our Top 10. We listed him in early July at No. 8 (the highest of any major recruiting site; others had him between 12 and 23) and he's made us look very smart.

Wright isn't the big scorer that others are but his game is more complete. He's a point-forward who makes the guys on his team better. His passing skills compensate for his limited perimeter game. Lute Olson, Dave Leitao and Bruce Weber have July passes to all of his games.

Heat Check – Shooting up the charts as we speak. Has made a case for No. 1 and has a little more time to add to the legend before the jury deliberates.

The recruiting battle for Julian Wright is just now starting to heat up. Stay tuned to IlliniBoard.com and TheInsiders.com to see where exactly the Illini stand with the newly named Nike Peach Jam MVP.
