Just over a year ago Illinois received a soft commitment from Charlie Villanueva. Now they are looking at one of the most athletic big men in country. So much has been made about AAU coaches or high school coaches that try and "control" where kids go to school. Not at the Vernon Goodridge household. That is because Patricia Goodridge is in total control.
"I control where my son will visit and who will come to my house to see my son," said Patricia. Ms. Goodridge is not going to let anyone know more than what they need to because she knows her son can play. "Yes, I know my son is good and will be a good college player," said Patricia.
Distance will not be an issue for this big man either. "He's a very big boy and he can take care of himself so I don't care how far away he goes to school. Right now Illinois is definitely in his top five," added Patricia.
Right now he's already qualified according to Ms. Goodridge, and Illinois has been granted an in-home visit with the family slated for September 14th.
